Recommendations
Find alternatives to plastic products whenever possible. Some specific suggestions:
* Buy food in glass or metal containers; avoid polycarbonate drinking bottles with Bisphenol A
* Avoid heating food in plastic containers, or storing fatty foods in plastic containers or plastic wrap.
* Do not give young children plastic teethers or toys
* Use natural fiber clothing, bedding and furniture
* Avoid all PVC and Styrene products
  • Buy food in glass or metal containers
  • Avoid heating food in plastic containers, or storing fatty foods in plastic containers or plastic wrap
  • Do not give young children plastic teethers or toys
  • Use natural fiber clothing, bedding and furniture
  • Avoid all PVC and Styrene products

These are some basic things you should remember:
  • As far as possible, avoid buying and storing food in plastic containers; instead use safer alternatives such as glass, metal or porcelain
  • Also avoid using things made from PVC or styrene.
  • Prefer natural fabrics over synthetic ones for clothes and furniture upholstery.
  • Avoid giving plastic toys to children, especially in the case of younger children who are likely to chew or take toys in the mouth.

Hazards

One of the major pollutants in our oceans is the plastic bag and its component chemicals. Plastic bags are made from petroleum that is then transformed chemically into ethylene and then polyethylene.  Plastic bags and other plastic particles that find their way into our oceans disrupt the ecological balance of marine life and can find their way into our food chain.

People are exposed to these chemicals not only during manufacturing, but also by using plastic packages, because some chemicals migrate from the plastic packaging to the foods they contain. Examples of plastics contaminating food have been reported with most plastic types, including Styrene from polystyrene, plasticizers from PVC, antioxidants from polyethylene, and Acetaldehyde from PET.Among the factors controlling migration are the chemical structure of the migrants and the nature of the packaged food. In studies cited in Food Additives and Contaminants, LDPE, HDPE, and polypropylene bottles released measurable levels of BHT, Chimassorb 81, Irganox PS 800, Irganix 1076, and Irganox 1010 into their contents of vegetable oil and ethanol. Evidence was also found that acetaldehyde migrated out of PET and into water.

PLASTIC HAZARDS

PLASTIC HAZARDS

The hazards plastics pose are numerous. The land gets littered by plastic bag garbage presenting an ugly and unhygienic seen. The "Throw away culture" results in these bags finding their way in to the city drainage system, the resulting blockage cases inconvenience, difficult in maintaining the drainage with increased cost, creates unhygienic environment resulting in health hazard and spreading of water borne diseases. This littering also reduces rate of rain water percolating, resulting in lowering of already low water levels in our cities. The soil fertility deteriorates as the plastic bags form part of manure remain in the soil for years. It has been observed that the animals eating the bags sometimes die. Plastic goes into the ocean which is already a plastic infested body of water. Fish and other marine species in the water ways, misunderstanding plastic garbage as food items swallow them and die.

The number of people suffering from kidney and throat ailments, cancer and infertility has been increasing  The rise in such cases is attributed largely to people eating hot foods carried in plastic bags.
Everyday, hundreds of patients affected by polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene and polystyrene because of eating hot foods carried in plastic bags are visiting  Hospitals.

Toxins could migrate from the plastic to the substances they hold. The most common food interactions are the migration of low molecular weight substances such as stabilisers, plasticisers, antioxidants and monomers from plastic packing materials

Dangerous plastic bags

Plastic bags may be convenient for carrying groceries or other merchandise home, but they

also pose concerns to the environment and wildlife, according to the Earth Resource

Foundation. If you're looking for ways to make a positive impact on the environment,

recognizing the problems posed by plastic bags and reducing your use of them can be steps

in the right direction.

Stop using plastic

  • Plastic bags that end up in landfills may take up to 1,000 years to break down. And plastic bags aren’t biodegradable. They actually go through a process called photodegradation—breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic particles that contaminate both soil and water, and end up entering the food chain when animals accidentally ingest them.
  • Plastic bags are made from petroleum. Producing plastic bags consumes millions of gallons of oil that could be used for fuel and heating.

  • Plastic bags are so lightweight that they are easily blown into trees, roads and waterways. Plastic litter is now found everywhere on the planet—even in remote places

Plastic Pollution

Plastic is one of the new and worst chemical materials which cause serious environment pollution and is certainly a cancer in nature. Plastic is regarded to be a biological hazard since it is almost non- degradable. Tonnes of Plastic waste are dumped everyday into the earth all over the world. Plastic pollution is destroying the world’s ocean ecosystems as a lot of waste is flushed into the ocean.

How we are living in nature

This is how nature looks & this how we are living in nature

Avoid plastic

Do you know that we are filling our nature with Plastic bags?

Stop plastic bags

Plastic bags may be cheap and easy to use, but they're unhealthy for the planet.

Disadvantages & Dangers Of Using Plastic Bags

Disadvantages & Dangers  Of Using Plastic Bags
Environmental Damage
Plastic bags have been known to cause a lot of environmental damage. A single plastic bag can take up to 1000 years, to decay completely. This makes the bags stay in environments longer, in turn leading to great build-up on the natural landscape (much more than degradable materials like paper). In other words, the more plastic bags you use, the greater the chances of environmental damage.
Threat To Animal Life
As per Marrickville Council of Australia, as many as 100,000 whales, turtles and birds die have been reported to die every year, mainly because of plastic in their environment. Plastic bags not only have adverse effects on our natural habitats, but have also been found to be responsible for the death of many animals, mainly on account of the suffocation encountered on eating them.
Suffocation
Not only animals, infants and young children have also been reported to have lost their life, on account of plastic bags. Since plastic bags are thin and airtight as well, children often end up blocking their mouths and nostrils with them. In case they are not being monitored by an adult, this leads to suffocation and, in some cases, even death.
Pollution
Plastic bags are extremely durable. In case you are thinking of this as an advantage, just bring to mind an image of the huge landfill that you visited on the city outskirts, the other day. In most probability, majority of the rubbish present there will comprise of plastic bags only. In other words, plastic bags have led to a great increase in the pollution levels.
Fumes
Since plastic bags are not bio-degradable, the only way to get rid of them is to burn them up. Though lighting a match to them is easy, it has more than its fair share of disadvantages. The biggest of them is that smoldering plastics can release toxic fumes into the environment, in turn taking the air pollution to much higher levels.
Non-renewable
One of the main disadvantages of plastic bags is that they are not renewable. The reason behind this is that they are made of petrochemicals, a non-renewable source of energy. They can be recycled, but not as easily as paper bags. Plastic bags can last for as much as hundred of years. In other words, long after you are no more, the plastic bag used by you will be in existence

Put Your Hands Together To Save The Enviorment

Stop Using Plastic Bags

Just One step can change the earth, start from you & Experience it

SAVE EARTH AVOID PLASTIC BAGS

Methods to avoid using plastic

1. Bring a reusable (preferably cloth) bag to the grocery store

This is so easy, you already do it, or at least try to. I see lots of people ,carrying plastic bags  for  which you have  to pay something like 5 Rs. a bag if you didn't bring your own.Let me tell you, EVERYBODY should bring their own bags of cloth or of paper.

2. Bring a reusable bag to fill with bulk goods, fruits and vegetables

As you've probably noticed, nearly everything you buy in the grocery store also comes wrapped in plastic. Whether it's putting your fruits and vegetables in plastic bags, buying your rice or pasta in a plastic bag or (get this) the plastic lining on cans, the stuff is everywhere. One way to partially avoid this is to, once again, bring your own bag. Now I so far haven't quite managed this, so I am presently reusing plastic bags, but one day soon I am going to make some small cloth bags to bring to the store across the road, which sells grains, flours, granola, nuts, and much more, in bulk. You generally don't actually need to use a plastic bag for fruits and vegetables, at least not if you are buying a small amount like I usually am, but if you do I'm sure cloth bags could be fashioned to fulfill that purpose as well.

How to live without garbage

1. Transition to non-disposable products
First, I had to find replacements for everything that I used to throw away.  I searched for replacements for deodorant, toothpaste, dog food, plastic bags, and lots more.
I gave away of all of my disposable stuff, including everything that I thought could possibly break within the next year, like my vacuum cleaner and my automatic cat feeders.
I had to figure out what to eat, since so much of our food is wrapped in a layer of packaging. No more packaged salad, no more almond milk in tetra packs, no more packaged cheese … just to name a few.
I have included on this website all of my ideas (so far) for replacing disposable items.  There are so many possibilities - it just takes a little imagination!

2. Change Habits
I learned that if I want to change a habit, I have to train myself.  If I forget a cloth grocery bag, I make myself buy another.  If I forget a travel mug or water bottle, I buy another.

3. Attentive shopping
I have learned to avoid garbage by shopping well.  I try to preempt the garbage.  I buy in bulk, buy local, buy second-hand, and I’m always on the lookout for an item that does not come in plastic.

4. Composting
About half of all household garbage is compostable.  If you want to take just one step toward reducing your garbage, then build a compost pile.  It’s easier than you think!

5. Recycle, recycle, recycle

WE ARE ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR IT
SO AVOID USING PLASTIC BAGS "
